Matt graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from Bemidji State University in 2013 while working as a police officer. He has over a decade of experience serving as both a law enforcement officer and EMT.

Throughout his career, Matt has worked in patrol, Special Operations, and as a School Resource Officer (SRO). During his time as an SRO, he partnered with multiple schools to enhance safety by improving active shooter protocols and training staff and administrators to better prepare for potential violent situations.

In Special Operations, Matt worked in plainclothes assignments targeting violent crime, narcotics, and high-risk areas within his jurisdiction. He also played a key role in developing and leading department training programs.

Matt holds multiple instructor certifications, including:

• Use of Force

• Firearms Training

• Active Shooter Response

• Less-Lethal Options

He is also a member of a Mobile Field Force Team and has served as an assistant instructor for Active Shooter Response at a local college, training future law enforcement professionals.

Matt has completed several certification programs through the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, including advanced investigative and leadership training.

He currently serves as an active law enforcement officer in a Minneapolis metro-area police department, where he is a Field Training Officer (FTO) and a primary instructor in new hire academies.

Matt is also a Certified USCCA Instructor, bringing real-world experience and a strong commitment to safety, preparedness, and responsible training.
