Ryan Dougherty

Instructor

Ryan brings over 22 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), including 18 years as a paramedic in a high-volume 911 system. He also served for three years as a paramedic on the Anoka County SWAT Team, providing critical medical support in high-risk environments.

In 2021, Ryan graduated from the Tactical EMS School at the Camp Ripley State Training Facility, further advancing his expertise in tactical and emergency response care. His background includes extensive training in prehospital emergency medicine, basic and advanced life support, and trauma care.

Ryan holds:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice

  • An Associate’s degree in Paramedic Technology

  • An Associate’s degree in Law Enforcement

He specializes in tactical emergency medical education and has trained dozens of first responders in active threat trauma care—equipping them with the skills needed to respond effectively in critical situations.

In addition, Ryan has experience developing and managing a public-access defibrillator (AED) program for a large Minneapolis-area county library system. As part of that initiative, he provided CPR training to over 50 staff members, helping expand life-saving capabilities within the community.

Ryan is passionate about empowering individuals with the knowledge and confidence to act in emergencies and make a real difference when it matters most.
